Abstract

The road network of the Immediate Region of Teófilo Otoni, located in the northeastern of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, is examined. Graph Theory is used to model the problem and its behavior is analyzed based on concepts and operations with elements of this structure. It is possible to observe the vulnerability of the network of paved roads due to the existence a single path between each pair of cities. If dirt roads are also considered, some cities still have a single access, however many of them are connected by two independent routes, making communication more effective.
