Analysis of thermal comfort in multifamily dwellings in the municipality of Teófilo Otoni / MG under the aspect of solar orientation and area of openings
Abstract
The well-being of users of a residence is directly linked to the thermal conditions of the place, since, when these are favorable, they contribute significantly to the environment being functional and comfortable. Otherwise, the quality of life and health of users is impaired. The solar orientation and the area of the openings in the rooms of a building must be studied even in the design stage, as it is known that these elements have a relevant influence on the thermal gain in the residence. Therefore, this work exposes an analysis of thermal comfort for two multifamily dwellings in the municipality of Teófilo Otoni/MG, a region marked by hostile climatic conditions. The methodology used involves the analysis of the solar orientation and the area of the openings of the housing compartments. The results revealed that the first residence evaluated does not present satisfactory conditions of thermal comfort, as 50% of its compartments have inadequate solar orientation, 20% do not have openings and another 20% have openings with inappropriate dimensions. The second residence has efficient thermal comfort, since more than 70% of its rooms have excellent solar orientation and more than half of them have openings with adequate dimensions.
